Super Lame
Some facts:
- We have a large driveway and a garage so we almost never park on our neighborhood street
- We recently acquired an extra vehicle (which I’ll blog about another day) but we still have plenty of room to park in our garage and driveway
- Our neighborhood street is 4 (unlined) lanes wide so there is plenty of room to park on both sides of the street and 2 cars can still comfortably pass each other
- One of us (I won’t mention names) moved the Mountaineer to the street last night for a short time and left it there over night
- The Mountaineer’s wheels were 10 and 21 inches away from the curb
- The Mountaineer was parked on the wrong side of the street (aka, facing the wrong direction)
…..
- The City of Houston can issue a parking citation for parking more than 18 inches from a curb
- Parking more than 18 inches from a curb equals a fine of $35
- The City of Houston can issue a parking citation for parking on the wrong side of the street
- Parking on the wrong side of the street equals a fine of $25
…..
- This morning the Mountaineer had a parking citation in in the window
- It cited a violation for parking more than 18 inches from the curb
- The remarks stated we were also parked on the wrong side of the street
…..
So, we owe the City of Houston $35.В Not sure why they opted out of charging us the additional $25 even though they made such remarks on our citation.
Whatever.
Lame!
Beware…it could happen to you!

Remember there is a recession and City budget crisis; so no warnings. At least it’s in town and you do not have to travel for a court date.
